How to Replace a Volvo Replacement Key Fob
Your Volvo key fob can do many more things than just unlocking and locking your vehicle. It is also an advanced anti-theft device that utilizes specialized technology to communicate with your car to deter theft.
But what happens when your key fob battery dies? Our team at Volvo Cars Mission Viejo has all the answers!
How to Unlock Your Vehicle
Modern electronic key fobs offer greater functionality and ease of use as compared to manual keys. However, they require batteries that eventually wear out and will need to be replaced. If your Volvo keyfob works only intermittently, the battery may be dying and you will have to replace it quickly.
You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries yourself by following few easy steps. Find a clean surface to work on. Make a list of all the tools you will need. Find www.g28carkeys.co.uk and turn it open using a flathead, a coin, or a similar tool. Next, carefully pry the battery out of its socket by lifting up on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Wear rubber gloves to shield the clips and electronic contact surfaces.
Place the new battery in the socket after the older one is removed. Make sure that the positive side is facing upwards and that it's seated in all of the clips. Then, slide the cover back down and towards the key-ring loop section until it loosens and slides off. Remove the cover to reveal the hidden key blade. It can be used to unlock your vehicle from the driver's side door when the battery of your key fob is dead or gone.
How to Start Your Vehicle
Modern vehicles are usually equipped with key fobs that can do much more than unlock or lock the doors. They can also perform handy functions like summoning and auto-parking the vehicle. The brand new Volvo XC60 is capable of remotely starting your engine by using its key fob buttons. How exactly does it work?
Find a clean surface on which you can arrange the necessary items for this project. Place the fob on the surface with the Volvo logo facing up. Next you will need a flathead screwdriver, coin or similar tool to switch the battery hatch from the open position. Avoid touching the electronic contact surfaces with your tools. This can cause the fob to stop working properly.
After the hatch has been opened, place the battery into its socket. Make sure that the positive (+ side) is facing up. After the clips are secured into place, remove the battery cover, and then reassemble the fob.
Pressing the unlock button once will turn off the alarm and unlock the driver's door. By pressing it a second it will unlock all doors and tailgate. The unlock button can also be used to roll down the windows on hot days or to let in fresh air prior to getting behind the wheel. If you want more options, the keyfob could be used to activate the ERS that will begin the climate control system of the vehicle and allow it to warm or cool the vehicle to desired temperature levels when the vehicle is parked.

How to Change the Battery
If your key fob is no longer locks or unlocks your car it is possible that it is time to replace the battery. Change the battery is easy and requires the use of a small screwdriver, flathead, or plastic pry bar tool. First look for the small hole where the backup/emergency key for ignition made of metal used to be. Place the blade of your screwdriver or pry bar tool into the slot and gently pry open the back of the fob of the key. After the fob is open then locate the CR2032 3V battery and remove it. Replace the battery and snap the fob.
Note: Some older Volvos have a different battery which is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of millimeters thinner than a CR2032 battery, so you'll need to be careful with the placement of your replacement.

How to unlock the Hidden Key Blade
Keyfobs from Volvo have changed in recent years. Key fobs can be more than just a remote that can start and lock your car. They can also roll down the windows and give you a boost if needed. It is first necessary to learn to use your key fob to maximize its potential.
Your key fob has the transponder chip programmed to your Volvo. When you insert the key fob into the ignition barrel transponder chips read the code and compares it to the one that is stored in the start inhibitor module of your vehicle. If the codes aren't compatible, your car won't start. This is an important security measure that stops your Volvo from starting if the wrong key is used.
If you lose your keys in the event of a loss, you'll need to take it to a dealer to get it replaced, and your vehicle programmed. This process can take between 5 and 10 days and will cost you a significant amount of money. You can save money by programming your own computer. You will find all the information you need in your owner's manual or on the internet. Remove the logo and nonlogo covers and place your key fob on a clean surface. Locate the grey button on the upper right-hand corner of the fob, and push it down. The cover will be opened to reveal the CR2032 3V power source.
